A total of 430 new rooms at the China Hotel, Guangzhou went into operation for the public yesterday, after over-six-months renovation, with a rate rise of some 10%.

The five-star hotel invested about RMB 530 million (US$ 74.6 million) in the face-lift from last July, the biggest amount for hotel renovation in the city.

The new rooms this time account for half of the total number of rooms. The hotel will continue to redevelop the remaining rooms later this year.

Insiders said the old five-star hotels in Guangzhou are transforming to compete with the incoming competition of international big names.
